SPANISH AND MEDITERRANEAN-INFLUENCE CUISINE FROM ORIGINAL FAMILY RECIPES

La Escollera has always blended the traditional with the glamorous, serving up incredible homemade dishes for over 25 years. Owner Daniel Gonzalez’s Yaya (Catalan for “Granny”) began cooking her famous paellas at this beachside restaurant decades ago, and both locals and international visitors alike are still drawn to the spot today. Offering panoramic views of the Mediterreanean, shaded terraces, tables in the sand, an open indoor dining space, and a lounge and cocktail bar – this laidback restaurant is perfect for intimate dinners and large parties alike, accommodating up to 300 guests comfortably!

The food is the real star of the show here. Dig your feet into the sand as you enjoy a menu of Spanish and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine. The paella, of course, is not to be missed, but other highlights include Gallo San Pedro, Ibicenco-style potatoes, and a flaky oven-baked Seabass with a crust of coarse sea-salt mined from the local salt-flat Every dish is made with love from the owner’s original family recipes, and they even offer many vegan options (including a delicious vegan paella!). Wash it all down with a pitcher of ice cold sangria as you party the night away.

The Inside Scoop

In search of some first-hand knowledge, we sat down with owner, Andrea, and gleaned her exclusive tips on planning an unforgettable soirée at La Escollera...

What do you love most about La Escollera as a wedding destination?
The unique location in the middle of the Ses Salinas Natural reserve, the view of the Mediterranean and Formentera island, the delicious food, the super friendly service, the secluded ceremony area in the remains of the 17th century old harbour with 270 degrees sea-view (this is where the salt from the salt-flats was shipped throughout the Mediterranean), the fact that we have over 25 years of experience with weddings and were the first ones to actually host ceremonies outside of the church! All these things make for a very special experience.

What is the your favourite time of year to book your Ibiza wedding?
I would say May/June and lately the weather has been amazing in October. The empty beached are a big plus!

Do you have a personal favourite spot at La Escollera for ceremonies, for receptions, for photos?
The ceremony as explained above and an amazing spot for couple photos are the salt-flats at sunset!

Who are your go-to recommendation of vendors in Ibiza?
DJ Hans Orenda is really great! Super soulful and guaranteed dancing. We have had many many weddings with Gypsy Westwood as a photographer, she makes beautiful shots! Same for Masha Kart. Lastly, French jazz singer Moon Yet (Mouniette is her real name); she walks through the guests singing, it's lovely.

Do you have any tips for couples planning to marry in Ibiza?
Start soon with getting quotes from all the vendors and make a detailed to do list! Also, give some prearranged tasks to different guests during the wedding, so that you yourself don't have to worry about a thing and just enjoy the day (like placing the name cards before the wedding, handing specific gifts to guests, etc.). Finally, choose an MC to announce things, like speeches and asking people to sit down for dinner.
